Dismounted old store, events 4001and 8097

Hi all, I have a 2008 server running Exchange 2007 SP1 that crashed hard (power outage, bad battery backup), so I repaired the database. It happened again a few days later, and what I could find online basically says not to run on that twice-repaired database for long. I created a new...

Prompt before sending to _Domain Users

That's not a bad idea at all. Create _DONOTSENDHERE or something. They'll still mess it up.

Prompt before sending to _Domain Users

The way we have it set up is that an underscore automatically means "_DomainUsers" So when someone writes an email to My_daughter@hotmail.com and then backspaces a bit and misses the underscore it automatically resolves to domain users and they send them out. I agree, it's a training issue...

Prompt before sending to _Domain Users

Hi there, I am wondering if there is a way to force people to click "yes I am sure I want to send this message" or something when sending to _Domain Users. We have people accidentally sending emails around to the entire domain about their home problems, selling eggs, and crap like that...

Allowing 2 XP installs access to a drive in security tab

Can you just add "everone" with full access? You dont say that you want to lock it down, you just want both installs to get to it.

    Password unlock/reset solution

You could just have a timed lock out policy. User accounts get locked for 20 minutes, then unlock on their own. I have no idea about any of those products...

2003 Terminal Server - How to?

Hi there, I've got a 2000 terminal here that is giving me fits... Wont let me uninstall, reinstall, or do anything of the sort. Ever tried to install the Windows Installer Cleanup utility only to have Windows Installer not work? Ever tried to install Windows Installer 3.0 only to have it not...

Trying to add RAM - Help Please

This is incorrect. If it's different speeds, the RAM will just run at the slowest RAMs speed. If you are using a 400 and a 333, they will both run at 333.

Bought a company, merging their exchange with ours

Thanks for the advice, I'll begin reading up on some of the stuff you mentioned!

Bought a company, merging their exchange with ours

Name the info you need and I'll provide it. I just didnt want to sketch out both networks because that's far too much info :) I guess I should get reading a bit more... I honestly think the higher ups are planning on outsourcing most of it, so I've just got to get the connectivity stuff done...

Bought a company, merging their exchange with ours

Hi there, We are running 2003 exchange and as the title says, we purchased another company. I've got a couple just general questions for now, then I'll need some technical advice once I figure out what direction to go. Merging two Exchange servers... Hard, easy, or even possible? Instead of...

Windows takes a long time to start up

Is there a service that is hanging at the "starting" stage? Go to start->Run and type in "Services.msc" without the quotes. Check and make sure all of them are started or blank, they shouldnt be "starting" or "stopping" Anything in the event logs?

Can't See an item that is open in the Task Bar.

I cant believe I wrote that incorrectly. Thanks for the save Linney.

Can't See an item that is open in the Task Bar.

Alt+M and then use the arrow keys to move the program window around the screen. That will get it back on the screen, then making it bigger should be as easy as click and dragging the corner.

    Question On Disk Mirroring

Cant you add 2 new drives, set them to mirror, configure them to be an E drive or something, then move the data over there?

    Dell laptop display small screen

I've had this before, but it wasnt a driver since it happened in the BIOS too, it was the laptop making the screen smaller. The following will only work (and may not help at all) if it is happening in BIOS and during the entire bootup. If it's just a windows issue, you definitely need to find...

Windows Firwall blocks outgoing VPN traffic

I had the same problem, only it was blocking remote desktop once I had created the VPN. Remote Desktop was allowed through the firewall (or at least thats what it said in the Exceptions list), but it still wouldnt work. I ended up disabling the firewall on that PC, it was the only way to get...

Restoring files from a backup tape

And because there is a job running and the tape you want to restore from is in the drive, I'm going to put my money on it overwriting the tape you want to restore from :(

Domain name to IP mapping - Temporary

I'm not sure if this would work, but you could modify the host file of any computer trying to get to it. It would be like: www.mysite.com/123 192.168.1.1 (or whatever your IP address is) But a better way to do it would be in the IIS to redirect the website to your local host.
