Thank you both for the information. I will have a close look at the cable and attempt to run some serial numbers through google.

    Registry Push to Domain Computers

Microsoft have a downloadable paper regarding the introduction of Group policies on a 2000 domain: http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/techinfo/howitworks/management/grouppolicyintro.asp Hope that helps. Russell.

    Play buttons not working

Greetings. It sounds like the software your laptop uses to link these buttons to the appropriate programs has been deleted/disabled/corrupted. You will I imagine need to either reinstall the software it uses (if you can get it) or use the recovery CD. Which Operating System are you using?

    Everything opens solitare?

That's a bit of a strange one. Have you run a Virus scan?

Hi, On booting I get this error

Assuming this is a workstation and not a windows 2000 server issue, this really is not the correct forum for that question; but I digress. In the Start Menu folder "Startup", do you by chance have a link to Microsoft Office? It would appear a drive, resource has been changed and it...

NET SEND not working as expected

My apologies, I did not read your original post thoroughly enough. If you attempt to send a message to a machine using the computer name instead of the user name, does this work?

NET SEND not working as expected

As I recall, to send a message to everyone on the domain the format would be: NET SEND <DOMAIN NAME> MESSAGE So for the Domain "TFG" you would use: NET SEND TFG THIS IS A TEST Hope that helped. Russell.

I have a ethical question to throw

To answer rphip's question with my personal opinion I would have to say "yes". While machines have perhaps made our lives quicker and easier in many respects, I would not necessarily say they have improved the quality of life that we have. That said, it would appear to be...

    Too Much Time at Tek-Tips

I spend a lot of time here, but obviously if there is work to be done then you do it. I could never say that time spent here was wasted time, I've gained far more from Tek Tips than I have put in.

Multiple emails being sent to dist. group of custom recipients

That does sound rather strange. Is it possible to delete the Distribution List, re-create it and then add the custom recipients again? My line of thought is that perhaps it has become corrupt.

Multiple emails being sent to dist. group of custom recipients

The distribution list is not a member of itself per chance is it? Does there seem to be a set period of time inbetween the mail being sent again? Has this been occuring for long, or only since a particular recipient was added?

    Attaching Mailboxes...

Unfortunately I do not believe so, all you can really do is limit their exchange permissions.

    Proxy dont change for others

Good Morning, Do you have a Group Policy on your server? It would be easy enough to add the new settings to this, which would make the changes on the desktops. Russell.

    Using regsvr32 via Batch file

Sorry, I meant to ask if you could simply change the patch of the OCX when registering it at the command prompt?

    Using regsvr32 via Batch file

    Would such a batch file not work?: regsvr32.exe c:\windows\system\ocx1.ocx regsvr32.exe c:\windows\system\ocx2.ocx regsvr32.exe c:\windows\system\ocx3.ocx etc. Russell.

    MS Proxy 2 -> Squid

Greetings, We are currently using Microsoft Proxy Server 2 on our network which I installed around 6 months ago. We have recently upgraded our domain to 2000 and this is where the problem lies. It appears that the Proxy2 client does not work at all well with active directory and that I am...
