I am in a similar situation as you (but further behind where you were). I have an Exchange 2003 cluster (2 node). I had been doing direct-push with it (through the same firewall, etc.). We now allow users to connect to OWA (it had been running before just disallowed in AD) so I installed an SSL...
I doubt that the upgrade had anything to do with it I just included it in case it may have.
When clicking an app to launch, it goes through the normal processes, "connecting" etc. sometimes it works, sometimes it stops at "connection in progress" usually it stops right before displaying the...
Ok yall - I have been following this thread for a while... and it looks as if it has stalled so I will post my situation in the greatest detail hoping it will give someone a thought (or at least help get us an answer) and help me think about where to turn next.
I have two identical Metaframe...
Sorry for the late posting... I just read it.
Have you thought about a disk-disk-tape solution? I'm not very familiar with them but them seem to fit the bill. Even using a snap type solution and then spool off to tape at your convenience may be a good fit as well. I know Overland REO looks...
Personally I suggest you look at Netvault from Bakbone software. It will make duplicate tapes automatically and it is very fast. It will do hot backups of Oracle database not sure about MS SQL.
Good luck!
Hello Mr. Brown, thank you for replying.
I actually haven't started running it as of yet... it was just a general question (I actually had a different Citrix question, reason I was here). I was just wondering if anyone else had tried this combination. I've been very happy with ESX (on HP...
Thanks for the info! It doesn't seem a supported platform by Metaframe (or much of anyone else - YET). But I theorized that it would be a superb combination.
You should look into upgrading to 2.5, esp. for SAN support.
We aren't using roaming profiles as an old holdover from the MF 1.8 days when our drives were remapped (M & N) no real reason other than that today I guess.
As to the users... it does it to everyone all the time (including admin @ the console).
We have started using VMWare 2.5 ESX. I'm thinking about building another Metaframe server on top of it (since the MF license isn't needed). Anyone done any testing in this environment yet?
Cheers!
2 separate servers. MS Win 2k SP3, MFa FR3, each server has local user profiles. Running in published App mode.
Lately we have had both of the servers lock a session when a user opens IE6. At times it happens when they open Outlook (2000) as well. If you open IE from the console the same...

One of the main reasons I want to switch our company to M$2k3 is because it allows you to run separate processes (on users workstations) at different run levels. I.E., our old-decrepit fax software forces user to be in local admin group to work properly. 2K3 will let me set the fax to...
Thanks for your info! Yes fat clients work within the Term Svr.... I just had the tought that the audio may be turned off on the clients (infact I was logging on to check when I read your posting - LOL). I will check, as the thin clients all use preset profiles.
I'll keep ya updated!
I recently bought 2 3COM 4300's. I LOVE them! They both support our Data Center with fiber gig to a 4900 and I couldn't ask for anything better.
OK, I DID get something better - I got them on the used market so I saved some $$
Contact me if you want a recommendation.
I am trying to get sound through a Wyse 1200LE Thinclient. Sound does work on fat clients (I.E. PCs) but not for the Wyse guys.
Question: Does the server not having a sound card in it have anything to do with this??? I just don't have any other ideas... The servers are Supermicros...
OK... Mr. Engineer (my I call you by your first name, Citrix?) If I replace my Access db with another db (we are an Oracle shop or even if I use MSDE) will this allow users to login to our published apps or other boxes on the farm, even if the server that currently hosts the Access db goes down?
Ok, this may be a silly question but was it (Nfuse) done this way for a reason? I mean is this side-stepping security or any thing?
A dumb question is the question not ask (and most of mine) :D
I need to publish Explorer (file NOT internet) on a Win 2000 MF-XPa (SP3) farm. Seems easy enough to do and yet can't seem to get it... Any help would be greatly appreciated!
TIA
Mark
