maxtor 4000 crash

this maxtor 4000 has since crashed, not allowing any of us into the server. i have tried connecting it via cross-over cable [and tried a regular cable] directly to my computer, with no luck. i can not get the computer to recognize the nas, nor communicate with it. am i s.o.l. here? any way to get back into this?

i actually did contact maxtor a while back and they replaced the unit. they are absolutely wonderful over there, you are right!
