We have resolved this problem by reinstalling OWA.
You can install just OWA from your exchange 5.5 disks.

try running performance monitor to view for memory leaks.
Once you are monitoring for leaks, your counters will probably be going crazy, you can manually shut off services one by one, till you find the service causing the leak.

I have seen the problem many times. Each time the drive where the spool directory resides, is almost full. We either clean up the drive, or move the spool directory to a different drive.
Let me know if this points you in the right direction, and if you need advice on how to move the spool...
Check your settings on the xp box to see that the firewall feature, in advanced, is unchecked, and that the enable netbios over tcp/ip is enabled.

Are you pointing them to a login script in the scripts folder?
If so, check your permissions for your folder and files, by browsing network places for the netlogon folder.
in there you will find the script you created, most likely a batch file.
Click on it to see if you have correct permissions...
Setup DNS on your DC, and change the setting in tcp/ip properties, so that it points to itself, and make sure you have a static ip on the DC.
You can setup a forwarder, if you need one, in DNS, but with root hints, you should be fine.
Then point all workstations DNS to the static ip of the DC...
