Hey dude
Have you remembered to press F6 when you get the black screen with detecting hardware?
You need the driver from the ibm support site.
www.pc.ibm.com/support and search for MIGR-39723

HI Tony,
The DAC error seems to have something with a Mylex controller in it. I would check to see if you have a Raid controller installed in the machine and if so check the partnumber of the controller It will need to be an IBM ServeRAID Controller as other controllers has been known to cause...
Hi,
I know that IBM will not support Windows 2K, this may be for various reasons there amongst the server being too old etc etc. However it could also be due the server causing problems when installed with Windows 2K.
I am afraid the only thing you can try is to install a newer firmware, BIOS...
Hi,
If you have update the BIOS/Firmware without first updating the Drivers you are normally in a high risk of loosing all data. This is documented in the readme files for the ServeRAID.
However I am aware of that IBM has ways to force you do downgrade the BIOS and Firmware of the controller...
Hi Gavin,
most likely it can. However on the IBM options site it does state that the 70mhz machines are specifically two the 7xx and 8xx models, normally though the planar is the same in all type models like the 8659-xxx
If you at the same time check the service parts info you will see that...
HI Giri,
Regarding the memory upgrade...
you can buy 2x256 MB RAM's or 4x256MB, If you go for the first option you should remember that you must install the blocks in slot 1 and 4 for them to work. YOu can then leave the 2x128 in slot 3+4 to add extra ram.

Guys,
I don't mean to ruin the fun going on. Windows 2003 and ServeRAID Clustering is not supported yet. Using the Windows 2K cluster files from the ServeRAID CD really should not be done as that can cause problem once the system is running.
If you look at the IBM Support website under...
the only couple of things that springs to mind is to stop the antivirus program while installing, and trying to download it from teh website again.
I have just tried it on a 5000 with a SR 3L controller and it works find there.
Only other solution I can see would be to wait for the next version...
hello again
okay,
What OS, Servicepack?
Where did you get the latest serveRAID Manager from?
have you tried to uninstall it and then reinstall it again?
did you say yes, when you are asked during installation to install the service?
when you installed the manager was there any other programs...
hi,
soory if this seems a stupid question, but have you upgraded ServeRAID Manager aswell or is this when you run the CD?
Also where is the tapedrive attached?

Hi,
Is the drive copmpletely removed from the array?
if so what you need to do is do a Logical Drive Migration.
This is where you can add a new drive into an excisting array to either extend available space in the logical drive or to extend the partitions created already.
A few points worth...
Hi ya,
update the following in the follwoing order.
System BIOS
Integrated Sys Management Processor Firmware
Integrated Sys Management Processor Device Driver.
The order is impoerative to fix the problem if it is what I suspect.

Martin :)
