sure is set the WRT54G router to a diff channel ( ex. 1 ) and the Netgear set it to (ex channel 6 ) as long as they are diffrent really .... you should be all set there..
hope this helps..
Hi,
TKIP uses a strong encryption method that adds a Message Integrity Code (MIC) for added protection. AES uses a symmetric 128-Bit block for data encryption.
Before setting up WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access) security across your wireless network, be sure to have the compatible wireless...
Hi,
what actually happens to the range expander / Acess Pt. when it is flashed with a SVEASOFT SOFTWARE? (or any other firmware out there) does it actually tweak the settings of the expander / AP making it transmit more power let's say to cover an area ?
i just don't wan't touch my current...
hi
the range expander won't work with the SVEASOFT firmware
here are the MINIMUM firmware version requirements that devices must meet before being able to connect with the WRE54G:
WRT54G : at least firmware version 2.04.7
WRT54GS: at least firmware version 2.07.1
WAP54G : at least firmware...
hi,
check your network connections > see if the WIRELESS ADAPTER is associated with the BRIDGE ,if it is associated >right click and remove from BRIDGE.
OR DELETE THE BRIDGE simply on the list.
WEP IS OFF or ON ?
hi,
when you get a static ip account it should contain the following details :
1. ip addresses ( 1 - 6 )
2. SUBNET MASK
3. default gateway
4. DNS numbers
make sure you have them all.
bcastner,
to bridge or not to bridge that is the question.
so which is better a RANGE EXPANDER or another ACCESS POINT WAP54G configured as a bridge/repeater mode ?
in principle will they have the same speed or just about the 20 - 24 Mbps. speed that we expect?
try going to the linksys website, www.linksys.com
> click the support tab > click new knowledge base > search using ANSWER ID 759 for SETTING UP WIRELESS SECURITY
they have good information on that site.
if i am connecting to the router i get 54 MBps, but if i am connecting to the Range Expander i get 24 Mbps definitely.
does the range range expander, increase coverage on the area, but decreases your connection speed that's what i am observing.
thanks for resposnse guys !
i just had to battle a storm... i had to return the expander to the store and exchange it seems to be working now.
the only thing that i notice now is that my maximum speed is not 54 Mbps but just stays at least 20 - 22 Mbps if i am connected.
thanks for replying.yep i did exactly that. set static IP and DNS nos. with or with out the DNS nos i could still ping it though. this is quite strange. yep i ping yahoo.com (216.109.112.135) i get a reply.

I HAVE A WRT54G (V2.07) F.W AND A WRE54G (RANGE EXPANDER). I COULD PING THE ROUTER AND THE EXPANDER AS WELL AS THE DNS NOS. BUT I COULD'NT GET A WEBPAGE. IF I CONNECT WIRELESSLY TO THE WRT54G I COULD GET A WEBPAGE.
ANY THOUGHTS WOULD BE WELCOME...
hi,
instead of disabling SSID broadcast try, enabling your WEP key (ENCRYPTION).
ssid BROADCAST would still be enabled but security would still be there. try 64 bit first, it's gonna generate a 10 char key.
if you do an IPCONFIG on the command prompt what is the IP address you are getting there.?
if you are getting MEDIA DISCONNECTED try reducing the speed of the card as bithead say's it cannot auto-negotiate
DEVICE MANAGER > NETWORK ADAPTERS / right click on the adpater click PROPERTIES >clieck...
hi,
try doing this :
2 reasons why you are getting invalid IP (169.254.xxx) is
1 - you have a typo on the WEP key you copied to the computer
64 bits / 10 char
128 bits / 26 char
2 - you are tuned in to a weak channel.
but usually it's No.1 (typo mistakes)
