    Running pre-backup scripts

I am running Netbackup 5.1. W2k3 master server with AIX 5.3 clients. What we want to do(if possible) is get NetBackup to run a stop and start database script on the various servers, rather than using crontabs, so its centralised. Does anyone know if Netbackup can run these srcipt on the client...

Windows 2000 AD and Windows 2003 AD Compatability

Will, when you mean all servers will be 2000 or above, you mean DC's right?I always thought 2000 and NT4 member servers can co-exist in a 2003 native mode domain, just like NT4 non DC's could exist in a 2000 AD native environment.

    SAMBA With Windows 2000 Domain

Is your domain in native or mixed mode? As this has a lot to do with the way you will authenticate against a domain controller, native=kerberos authentication, mixed=standard NTLM authentication. It is possible to have a linux client accessing 2000 AD resources without being in the domain by...

Does any DHCP platform clear the conflicts periodically?

Would the router even care about an IP conflict? Apart from a bit of a messed up arp cache, surely the router wouldnt care? If you are using MS DHCP there is collision detection built in (more in 2K, 2k3) to prevent IP clashes. Sorry I may be way off here. :)

force client to specific DHCP server

Sorry, I should have clarified. I know about scopes and i know about reservations in which you can assign an address to a client, but was wasn't sure if there was a reg hack- from the client side-to make them go to a specific server. But lookin at it, its the first server to deliver the...

How to Write Queries about Collection Members

Do you have the web query tool installed. If so this is a doddle. Just search for machines with a specific file, and find the name of the exe(assuming it is) in question and voila! Gives you a list of all pc's with users etc that SMS has found with the file in question.

Admin password change, no DHCP available

No, different addreses are being dished out, but then no more after it. Then you release it. and another machine will pick it up, we did this in situ in the office. Those that have leases at the moment appear ok. The only thing that has changed is that the domain Admin password was changed about...

done that, still doesn't pick up an address.

Admin password change, no DHCP available

Maybe the password change was a red herring.... We have a range with 1024 (1023 useable)addresses, with some exclusions, we have 760 odd adreses available. It seems that it dishes out one address, and then it wont dish another out. As soon as we release it from one machine, do a ipconfig /renew...

Admin password change, no DHCP available

it seems like machines that had leases b4 the change was made were fine, but trying to introduce something new to the network wont pick an IP up. Tried ipconfig /release, /renew but it comes back with "Cant find DHCP server" we are getting NACK's in the logs, for machines from other networks...

Admin password change, no DHCP available

Network is fine, or we'd have problems all over the shop, and we've determined that if you set the machine in question with a static IP addy it connects fine.

Admin password change, no DHCP available

We just changed our admin password. We have users who have been out for weeks come back and not be able to log on to the network. They dont get an IP address. Also users from another trusted domain cant log on for the same reason. Any idea why?
