Hello All!
What are the exact SRV records (and ports if needed) that need to be added to my Bind 8.2.4 server for Active Directory?
I currently have:
_ldap._tcp.tierra.domain.com. SRV 0 0 389 tierra.domain.com.
_kerberos._tcp.tierra.domain.com. SRV 0 0 88 tierra.domain.com...
I did find this on Microsoft's website, but it doesn't list the ports. Do I need them? Our AD installation is on a 2003 server.

How do I disable VSP for a windows client? We are running Netbackup Enterprise
Server5.0 MP3 on Solaris?
I've looked under the Host properties, and there isn't a checkbox to disable
this feature. Just an exclude list that can be over ridden easily.
Help!
Thanks,
Steve

My V440 has (4) 72GB drives, and I was wondering if it is possible to do a hardware Raid 5 across them? If so, how would you go about doing it?
If not, could you software Raid 5 all of them, or would one have to be a dedicated boot / OS disk?
Thanks,
Steve
Quick question:
What is recommended if I am creating a backup server (Veritas) under Solaris 9 as far as disk configuration? I have a Sun V440 w/ (4) 72Gb drives. I need the space of 3 disks for data.
Backup disk? Hotspare?
Also would you recommend the Solaris Volume Manager or the Veritas...

I need to get the Solaris box to have a permanent mount to a Novell Samba Server, with the ability for the Novell box to place files on the Solaris Server. Apparently our Novell guy is telling us that their isn't a samba client for the Novell box, thus the reasoning...
Hello all!
I have been tasked with setting up a Samba client on Solaris. I've been scouring the internet and have either glossed over it by now or just can't find the info.
I've downloaded and installed the packaged binary for Solaris already. I've got SWAT up and working, but other than...
Hello!
I run qmail with multilog and was wondering if there was a way to automatically & forever change the time stamp format by using the tai64 stuff.
Any idea's on how to do this. I don't want to have to pipe the output of the file every time I want to see a date and time.
Thank you,
Steve
Thank you both for your responses...
As far as LAN speed is concerned, I will have a minimum of 3 GB Ethernet cards, looking to see if the V440 could handle 4 of them.
Trust me, I'd really like to go with FC drives, but the cost on the drives alone is roughly $4000 more than the SCSI version...

Hello All!
We are fixing to migrate off of Legato and onto Netbackup. I'd like some help configuring hardware for a master media server.
I was going to run Netbackup 4.5 on Solaris for starters. Preferably Solaris 9. Any issues with that?
We were looking at purchasing a Sun V440 w/...

Hello!
I've got my qmail setup with fastforward. My problem is that when sending an email manually (telnet server 25, HELO server.com, etc. etc.) to an alias it forwards over to my groupwise server perfect. As soon as I unleash the flood gates and outside internet email starts to email the...
Ok I've done what you suggested, and the aliases listed in the /etc/aliases file works when I manually test it:
telnet server 25
HELO, etc. etc.
But when I put it into production and all email begins to come in from the outside, the aliases don't work. The manual way mentioned above still...
Hello All!
I have read the documentation for qmail and for fastforward and have done as much research as I could come across.
What I am trying to do is get qmail to forward all email over to the Novell Groupwise server. qmail is stable compared to Groupwise, therefor it will accept all...
