Hello All!
I have read the documentation for qmail and for fastforward and have done as much research as I could come across.

What I am trying to do is get qmail to forward all email over to the Novell Groupwise server. qmail is stable compared to Groupwise, therefor it will accept all incoming email, then forward them over to GW. Groupwise handles outgoing internet email. I have installed fastforward because I need qmail to handle aliases via the /etc/aliases file. The aliases consist of a general distribution, say testdist that would forward email to certain GW users (see below).

What is happening is that email (all) is delivered to groupwise.testdom.com, the aliases distribution list go w/out translation there as well and the GW server will bounce the email.

I apologize for the lack of detail in my past email, hopefully the following will suffice...
Does my setup look right as far as the files and their contents below go?

/var/qmail/control/me: (bummer is the server that qmail resides on)
bummer.testdom.com

/var/qmail/control/locals:
bummer.testdom.com

/var/qmail/control/defaultdomain:
testdom.com

/var/qmail/control/plusdomain:
testdom.com

/var/qmail/control/rcpthosts: (groupwise is the groupwise server, I am sure that there is redundancy here, but it was a lack of knowledge on my part, suggestions?)
groupwise.testdom.com
testdom.com
groupwise

/var/qmail/control/smtproutes:
testdom.com:groupwise.testdom.com

/var/qmail/alias/.qmail-default: (saw something in the faq that said to give the full path to fastforward)
| /var/qmail/bin/fastforward -d /etc/aliases.cdb

/etc/aliases example:
testdist: GWuser1,GWuser2,GWuser3 (do I need to add the @testdom.com anywere?)

Thank you for your suggestions in advance.
Steve

Rcpthosts contains all the domains for which qmail should accept email. You probably only need "testdom.com" there.

"GYuser1@groupwise.testdom.com" is probably the correct format in your "testdist" line. However, I only think it will work if the domain "groupwise.testdom.com" has a discoverable MX record.
Perfection in engineering does not happen when there is nothing more to add. Rather it happens when there is nothing more to take away.

Ok I've done what you suggested, and the aliases listed in the /etc/aliases file works when I manually test it:

telnet server 25
HELO, etc. etc.

But when I put it into production and all email begins to come in from the outside, the aliases don't work. The manual way mentioned above still works. Any more idea's?

Thanks,
Steve
