I did a clean install of Win 98 and then upgraded with Win 2000 Pro. It has worked fine for a month now and then all of the sudden this.... There has been nothing added or changed since. My only guess is the power supply. I will give that a try.
Thanks
I have recently installed Win 2000 Pro (server for a two pc network) For no reason it powers down before it even gets all the way into windows. I also cannot get in via safemode as it powers down. It is like you turn the power button off every time. I have tried this over 20 times with no luck...
I am trying to get my network going - 2 computers (Win2000 & 98SE). On each computer I can see myself but not the other computer?
I know this is a simple answer but I cannot remember what to do?
Thanks for the suggestions
I understand that Win SE cannot be a server for a VPN. Is this the same for Win ME? If so should I upgrade to Win2000 or something else?? I am currently running a two computer network in the office that I want to allow one VPN connection to the server.
Thanks
Kurt
I have the 5600i Presario. It came with Win (not sure if ME or not) but I did a clean install rather than use their recovery cd. I used the utility program that came with my new hd (Maxtor) to format and partition - which I believe achieves the same effect as a fdisk.
Is there another way to...
I have two computers on my network. Both are Win ME. I am using a cable modem to connect to the internet. The question I have is in my network I have a ton of icons listed. I am thinking they are from my cable providers network. I was able to get into one of them and access the my documents...
For some reason I cannot keep my machine from going into sleep mode. I have all the power management tools disabled but to no avail. I have also tried uninstalling advanced power management but nothing seems to work.
Any ideas would be appreciated!
thanks

No, I am not on a network and I did do a fdisk and reinstalled to try and fix it. This all happened when I upgraded my HD (added a 40gb) and slaved my old drive. Though, I don't think that is necesarily related as everything else works fine???
I am constantly getting a 'volume had open files on it....' error when I start my computer. It does not seem to matter how I shut it down or anything. I have to power it off sometimes 4 or five times before it will load completely into windows. I have done a fresh install of Win but I still...
Thanks for the help again. I think the only other Question I have is how can I log in using a cable modem at home? It seems to want to dial up using my 56K modem? Also, will I be able to access the internet as well at the same time?
thanks for the help
Thanks for the reply. Do I need to install anything other than for the static IP problem? On my win98 machine when I make a new connection in dial up networking my 56K modem is the only thing listed. How do I get it to work with my cable modem? Will a simple firewall (like zone alarm) on...
I'm guessing my solution is a VPN.
I want to be able to access a two computer network from home in order to get into the accounting software etc. There is a cable internet connection at both ends. I believe both machines are Win 98(one may be Win2000).
I am not sure how to proceed at this...
I am looking for some shopping cart code that functions as a usual cart except I do not want to take orders. I would rather have their selected items emailed so I could call and confirm/place the order.
Any help is appreciated!
I have a report that is composed of several subreports. The main report is based on a parameter (beg & end dates) query. When I generate the query within the query it works fine. But when I run the report and enter in the criteria I do not get the correct results returned. It seems to return...
I want to generate a report that will count about 20 different records. For instance I want it to show how many males there are, how many females there are, etc.
I can get it to work by having a count query for each count and then making every count into a subreport. This means having 20...
If you are referring to hiding it in the database window simply add 'Usys' in front of the form name. This makes it a system object. To later view the object goto tools, options, and check sys objects.
