I had this same issue, the problem was that I had removed the log on locally rights from all of the users but the admins. This will cause an issue with OWA correctly authenticating the users when they are connecting remotely.

You will need to plumb the nic before it will be seen by ifconfig.
#ifconfig eri0 (or whatever the nic is, gfe0, hme1, etc) plumb
Then you will be able to configure the nic.
I had recently downloaded them on a XP system and burned them with no problems, but I used nero to do it. Nero does a much better job handling bootable CD's. You can just go to www.nero.com and download a trial version and give it a shot.
All you have to do is boot from the CD 1 and start the installation. You will come to a point where it will ask you whether you want an initial install or an upgrade.
Just choose upgrade and sit back and wait, it takes a long time.
