Is there anything new listed under "Add/Remove" programs in the Control Panel? When you look under "System" in the Control Panel, click on device manager, anything new there?
I had the same problem, after I used Ctrl, Alt Delete to get rid of everything but explorer, then I had to "Pause"
Task Scheduler, they it worked fine
Did you try to repair IE?
In the Control Panel, Add/Remove, click on the line that reads "Internet Explorer 5.x or Microsoft Explorer 5.x, see if a box opens that gives you the option to "Repair" Explorer. Hope this helps.
