thank you in advance for the help!
our transport file in /etc/postfix has entries that as similar to this:
ourcompany.com smtp:[internalmail.intranet.ourcompany.com]
.ourcompany.com smtp:[internalmail.intranet.ourcompany.com]
We are trying to cut over to a new...
I can see the WWN of the 2 fiber cards on the CLARiiON but when I try to add the actual host I get an error when I put in the IP address. I'm not sure where to start.
Wow! We just had a huge discussion about this with our DBA's. Once you get beyond a certain about of RAM, you don't need as much swap was the general conclusion although I think it really varies with each system/application.
I would look at how much swap is being used now via "swapinfo" and...
I agree w/Mike Lacey. Sounds like someone stuck another "shutdown" in your path that is being found first. Try typing
# which shutdown
and see what comes back. To shut the system down in the mean time, use the absolute path of /usr/sbin/shutdown for 11.X servers.
no, it just means that there are no more physical extents on that volume group. If you were to add another disk into the volume group, you would then have more space to allocate to your Oracle mount point. Disks are cheap. If you don't have any spares sitting on the system does your budget...
I'm pretty sure the default for minfree on HP-UX is 10%. That could have been changed at the time the filesystem was created. Unless you can get into SAM or use the Logical Volume Manager tools, you'll just have to take your SA's word for it that you have no more room to expand your Oracle...
Be very careful if you decide to cut and paste from any of the rcX.d directories. I had a paste go back to the original screen instead of my email screen and the --> part representing the link was interpreted as a redirect of /dev/null and wiped out half of my /sbin/init.d directory. The...
Mike, keep in mind this is 10.20 HP-UX. They didn't add routes to SAM until 11.X. You have to add it into the netconf file (I'm finding out) manually or set the route after it boots, which maybe what the previous SA was doing.
can anyone tell me how a 10.20 server won't pick up the default route? I rebooted a server on 9 June that hadn't been rebooted since February. It did come back up, just not fully on the network. To make a long story short, the default gateway was missing when you did a netstat -rn. Does...
Cant receive mail. didn't try to send. I think I may have found the problem. My Norton Anti-Virus is expired. I checked the settings and there was an "error" status on checking email. I turned off checking in coming email and rebooted. It worked. For now. Only time will tell if this is...
XP, Outlook Express - Cannot find server on SSL 110. Is there something in Windows where I can see if something else is grabbing that port? I can go on web mail and connect to the server. I can go to another PC or laptop and connect to the server through OE. Where can I look to see what's...
Well...I have an AIX production box and a Linux crash-and-burn test box both of which I've tried what you did. I even rebooted the Linux box. When I edit the inetd files I yanked-and-put the telnet line and renamed it to the service. Still nothing.
I was instructed to edit the /etc/services...
well now here's the stupid question. I get a "connected" just like I do from a foreign host but I guess I'm expecting a login prompt or something. What AM I looking for?
I need to set up a telnet session on port 3700. I've enter this in the /etc/services file and restarted the inetd daemon. I cannot telnet to it nor ping it. What am I missing here?
I can print locally but cannot set printer up from Win/NT environment. I can see the server but no printers on the printer set up wizard. Any ideas? Thanks
Can someone share with me how they set up their printer on Linux to share out to a Windows and/or NT workstation? I've got the printer queues set up as both local and smb and printer still doesn't show up when I tried to add the printer on a Win2K or NT machine. Thanks in advance. M
