You need to go back into design mode. When you double click the button, it should bring you right into VBA under a new sub routine called Sub CommandButton1_Click ()

You may have a problem with your normal.dot (or another template file). When the normal gets corrupted word often hangs when closing. Even though the executable (winword.exe) ends, Word cannot write back to the .dot file and ends up leaving the temp file open.
Look in your template directory...

1) If you save your files on a network drive that is backed up nightly, you can restore from the backup.

Thanks Dreamboat, but these articles don't really apply (though they do list some reasons why they values might be skewed). I'm not really having a problem with my dates and times. I just want a definitive explanation as to how Microsoft determines their values.
I need to explain how Microsoft determines the date fields listed in the document properties: Created, Modified, Printed and Accessed.
The documentation I have found simply states that they are simply what they say they are (i.e. Created is the date that the document was created, Modified is...
One other note in regards to the file size. Make sure you turn off Fast Saves (under Tools>Options>Save, uncheck Allow Fast Save). Fast save seriously increases the size of your document.
