Thanks for your tip. I tried to do as you suggested (setup Arcserve 6.5 services to start as a backup user), but it didn't work for me. By 'backup user' I mean a user which belongs to the backup users' group. Am I missing something?

I've found the way to prevent external mail from reaching a particular Exchange user, but I can't find the way of preventing that particular user from sending messages to the internet.
