Weird Problem After Setting Up Secondary Domain Controller...

This is not a new DC, a second. No, I did not transfer the roles, why would I have to if the 2nd server is not going to be the primary? I am building this as a secondary in case my main DC ever crashes. I thought that this was possible with 2000... Is there something else that I should know...

Weird Problem After Setting Up Secondary Domain Controller...

I mean should I distribute the 2nd DC as a DNS server via the DHCP options? Currently here is my setup that is being distributed through the DHCP settings: DNS Servers: 10.1.1.1 - NetWare 10.1.1.2 - 1st DC Should I add 10.1.1.3 - 2nd DC through my DHCP options? Sorry if I was unclear. :) Josh.

Yes, all have SRV records. Yes, the NetWare box is the only DNS server that is active when I turn off the 1st DC. Should I distribute the 2nd DC through my DHCP settings? Josh.

Weird Problem After Setting Up Secondary Domain Controller...

All clients are Windows XP Pro & 2000 Pro. DNS is setup on both servers (AD-Integrated). My 1st DC is setup as the DHCP Server. It gives out the IP of my NetWare 5.1 server, which is the main DNS to the Internet, and it gives it self out as a secondary. I do not have the 2nd DC listed... Josh.

If you would like to stop it from loading completely, go to Program Files directory, look for Folder named Messenger and just simply rename it. I would suggest Messenger Old or something along those lines in case you ever decided to use it again. Quick and simple fix. :D Josh.

    Monitoring Workstations Remotely

It is not about being a concentration camp, it is about employees using their pc's for what the company purchased them for, and that is doing work. Unfortunately, the old saying that 1 bad apple spoils the bunch holds true in many companies today. This is especially true today due to the amount...

Migrating From Novell DHCP To 2000 Server DHCP, DNS, & WINS

I am switching to Active Directory and am going to run DHCP, DNS, & WINS as well on Windows 2000 Server. I am currently running Netware 5 DHCP w/ no DNS. A few questions: 1. I have a 3-day lease for the IP's through Netware and am going to do the same for 2000. I currently have...

    Monitoring Workstations Remotely

Dameware! www.dameware.com I use it here, and absolutely love it. Not that expensive, and you can completely customize if the client is notified when you connect. Also, it runs as a service under Windows 2000. There is a free trial on there website, so you can try it before you buy it. Josh.
