The ink loader arrived but the vendor shipped the wrong configuration card. Needless to say, this combo did not work. A quick bump while e wait for the replacement configuration card ... has anyone else tried this 8570 to 8870 conversion? I am planning on resetting the NVRAM back to factory...

The rainbow boxes of starter ink I am using are Xerox p/n 108R00966 (Pins A & D). What is your part number? Also - Please note an error in my previous picture - I inverted the description. Pins A & D exist for STARTER ink, Pins A & C are for PRODUCTION ink.

It looks to me like the 8870 ink is simply a longer version of the 8570 - just over 1/3 longer if you use page count as the ratio. The "lower" 76% or so of the ink (the side that has the slight arrow pointing out when you can read 'Xerox' - down in the pictures below) is the same as the 8570...

I can't speak for the exact sensor position, but for that emergency or test as you are doing I have on occasion used an old-fashioned eraser between the levers that push the ink down as you close the ink tray door and the remaining stick of ink. Don't do this unless you can see a stick of ink...

I should have noted, for indexing purposes, that the drum heater lamp error is 15,004.45:xxx where "xxx" is your current page count and can be ignored.

Thanks - I occasionally need to reset becasue the printer forgets to listen to AppleTalk. Doing a full factory reset is overkill for my needs but thanks fro your response! As an aside, I've moved to using IP based printing to work around this intermittant problem. Dean

Any suggestions as to how to prevent my 850 from periodically (every 3-4 weeks) forgetting its AppleTalk connection? I have a Mac OS/9 user that cannot still uses AppleTalk and she can;t see the printer. The only fix is a reset of the printer. Dean
