    If you want it to be global (i.e. any directory) just add this to your httpd.conf AddType application/x-httpd-php .php make sure you have your Loadmodule for php as well and you can also make your index.php recognized as the default index by changing the line in httpd.conf like so...

    this is a long shot but are you using a firewall that doesn't support &quot;loopback&quot; like Sonicwall ? some firewalls do not allow (by default) internal IP to access external ones. a quick test of this is can you ping or telnet to port 80 on that IP address from inside of your network...
