Thanks for pointing me to Microsoft to look for Registry Keys. Even though I had been there to try to find an answer prior to me making this post, I must not have put in the right keywords to find the answer.
Anyway, I did find the answer, and if anybody else has this problem this is what you...
Someone please help me here...
I have an HP Pavilion xt963 with a celeron 1.2gHz, 512MB RAM, and 2 HDD's (40 gig - primary and 30 gig - secondary). I had a different secondary HDD (40 gig) until a couple of weeks ago when it decided to shoot craps on me.
I do alot of stuff with my computer so...
I just obtained this Elpida 256MB PC133 RAM module. I have 2 computers and installed it in both of them. One computer does not even recognize it. The other recognizes it, but it gives me the following error:
ERROR
0232: Extended RAM Failed at Offset: 1B
Then I get a screen stating that I have...
OK, I think I must be either confused or mis-informed...
I was under the impression that a Celeron processor was made for the average computer user and that it does not have the multi-tasking capabilities as a PIII.
And from experience with my other computer. I can definitely see a difference...
Well, I was having alot of other problems with XP so I re-installed it and all the service packs and updates and by golly, I was able to install Visual Studios 6.0 and it is running just fine. I also have VS.NET installed and running as well. No Conflicts!
"Life's too short to dance with...
I was under the impression that you could replace a Celeron with a PIII as long as they were both the same socket. It may be that the Celeron 1.2Ghz is the maximum upgrade, but isn't there a PIII that is comparable that would be better than the Celeron technology?
Oh well, I need to get off of...
I have Visual Studios 6.0 Professional and was running it without any problems on WinXP Home Edition. I recently upgraded to WinXP Pro. Now I cannot install my Visual Studios. I keep getting errors about how the installer cannot find certain files that I know exist. I have Visual Studios.NET and...
Ok, I have an HP Pavilion xt963 with a Socket 370 Celeron 1.2Ghz CPU. I want to get rid of this POS Celeron, I know I can get a PIII but am not too sure of its max capabilities. I have done all kinds of searching on the net but cannot find any info on how to upgrade to PIII. I would like to get...
Are you putting the CD/DVD in the same drive, or in a different drive?
I have been doing quite a bit of work on a Sony DRU-120. sometimes the software doesn't acknowledge the newer technology, and other times it is the drive I am trying to play the disks I have made on, the older drives don't...
Thanks Everyone for all you input!!!
This is a great site.
I have got the sound fixed now. I was able to 'borrow' a Windows 98 disk from a friend and re-install the soundcard with it.
I now have a 'copy' of this disk for future problems. And no, I will NOT use it 'illegally'. I will only use...
Well Mr Comtech, You have come up with the correct solution!!!
I took out the sound card and put it in my Dell with Win XP Pro. It installed without complications and I had sound.
So, I then took one of my old drives that has Windows 98 SE installed on it and put it in the Gateway. Everything...
well, the news is that nothing worked. My guess is that the PCI card is bad. I did everything I could think of and everything you guys suggested. I have upgraded, updated, uninstalled, re-installed, etc. etc. etc. I still get no sound and nothing but errors regarding the sound. It is now being...
No, it is NOT onboard sound. It is a sound card - Creative SoundBlaster PCI64D. I have installed and updated from Creative website. Looking at Gateway now and downloading their update. Over 16 MB, will take me a couple of hours to get it. Hopefully it will work. But, not all is lost, maybe I...
Ok, DirectX 8.1 now installed. The first time after reboot from the install, I did NOT get the RUNDLL32 error as before. But, I still do not get sound. I am getting different messages that I have some incompatibilities. I finally got into Safe Mode and did as you advised to remove all instances...
since my download still has a little time to go before it is completed, I have been attempting to get into Safe Mode. I have not been successful. I have tried continuously pressing the F2, F8, F9, F10, ESC, CTRL, and delete keys. And I have tried just holding down the CTRL, ESC, DELETE, F8, and...
OK, I want to start off by saying thank you guys for all the replies and help you are giving, I really appreciate this.
Now, I get errors with DXDIAG. Computer locks up. I did notice one thing... the DirectX version and the DXDIAG versions do NOT match. This may be my main problem. The DirectX...
The system is a Gateway PII 400 Mhz with Windows 98. The sound card is a Creative SoundBlaster PCI64. The problem is I have no sound. I have removed and re-installed several times. The Device Manager shows that the device is working properly with no conflicts. Attempts to access the properties...
Thanks for the quick reply. I think I have a controller card sitting around here somewhere that I will try. I am not sure if I understand your advice about 'overlay software', but if it may cause a problem later down the line, I am not too sure if I want to understand it. (LOL!)
I am not sure...
I am trying to put a 20 gig HDD (Fujitsu) in an old Packard Bell computer. The BIOS is only recognizing it as an 8 gig. I tried to do a couple BIOS update/upgrades (AMIBIOS), only to get SAME message from BOTH attempts, "BIOS not found, FIle not found, Unable to continue".
The current...
