The uniqueness pertains to accounts that are in your GAL. Your best be would be to come up with something that has nothing close to it, such as backup (account).
Your ISP might have turned off port 25. Just because you ping the sight doesn't mean you still have 25 running. Telnet to that site using port 25. That should tell you.

There is a limit of 10000 messages that can be shown(which you probably already know) The only way that I know how to clean it, is by opening the conv queue on the server and let it populate. Then delete the messages about 300-500 at a time. Its a slow process, but it can be cleaned that way.
