Does SNA Server have to be in an NT DOMAIN?

I have two independent SNA Servers that are currently in two different domains. I want to move them off those domains, and possibly just leave them in a workgroup. Is that possible, or do I have to create a new domain, possibly by rebuilding one of the SNA Servers to also be a domain controller, and put them in it?

Then, if they are in new domain or workgroup, will I be able to use the saved exports or backups of the previous configurations and restore them? It appears that the domain is a key part of the configuration.

Thanks,

Try reading the following microsoft Q article on Knowlegebase. It might help answer your questions.

How To Combine Multiple SNA Subdomains Into One Using Snacfg (Q222087)

No, the SNA Servers do not have to be in a NT Domain. Also, the backups that you use previously will not work. If you want to put the servers in a work group, the best way to do it is from scratch. This will eliminate any errors that may occur in the future.
Do one server at a time, once complete back it up. Then complete the next.

How will the users in a domain authenticate to the SNA servers in a domain if it is in a workgroup or are you planning for all users to be in a workgroup.
