windows 98 is not designed to run Direct X 9.I have a 5600 also and this vidoe requires DX 9 to run properly...Upgrade to at least Windows ME or preferably XP and your issues will be resolved...In a nut shell you either need a video card that runs DX 8 or lower or a newer operating system..
or buy a 40 gig at staples on sale this week for $59.99.Your computer will run faster cause the hdd will be less clogged.your existing hdd is probably a 5200 rpm hdd while the new Maxtors are 7200 rpm.
reset the Bios by unplugging the power source from the motherboard and resetting the jumper.This will reset Bios to a default state and then try rebooting.
Get rid of Win2000,Upgrade to XP.2000 has way too many issues.It was designed for business and networking not for home computing.Win 98SE would also have been a better choice
