Uh, oh. Just burned two CDs to check. Using the mkisofs command as edfair suggested produced: lower case, no "dot" at end of "plain" filenames, no underscore at intermediate dots. I saw 9.3, 6.5, 8.3.3, 14 (plain) and 6 (plain) file names in the proper case with periods as appropriate. Without...
Running sco5.0.7. Want to burn CD of data files in "/data" directory periodically to replace tapes. cdrecord -scanbus yields: scsibus 3: 3,0,0 300' LG ' CD-RW CED-8080B ' ' 1.04 ' Removable CD-ROM .Not all filenames conform to 8.3 format. Think it takes two commands to do: First "mkisofs...
Did run mkdev parallel. Says two pci parallel ports set up by default (lp3, lp4) and can only modify. Modification only permits changing of # of pci parallel ports-no interrupt or address choices. Forced interrupt in pc bios and have found card with hw -r pci but does not show up in hwconfig...
SCO "certified" Intek 21 parallel port; Intel D865PERL motherboard. Printer Manager lets me set up printer on /dev/lp3 (lp3 and lp4 available by default) without error. hwconfig shows no entry for the card - apparently not recognized at boot but does have entry for pci base and Acceleraid...
This is about three problems-trying to install mp3 for 5.0.7. "SCO Update" in Software Manager freezes up. Think the address for SCO is wrong in whatever file it is in.
Tried Download Manager in Mozilla. After 10 minutes (about 23M) download stops with no displayed error. Cannot close...
Have tried floppies made from SCO install CD on two different Windows m/c and one other Unix m/c-including making sure file resided on a different part of the floppy.
File is NOT specifically listed on the CD (including other drivers in the BTLD.img file.
Using Mylex Acceleraid 170 Raid Controller
Initial install-at boot prompt enter "link", then "mdac"
at package prompt. Install reads floppy and loads "Driver.o .text" and "Driver.o .data", then displays
"WARNING: Cannot open file Space.o". Note...
Unix box is member of win2000 network. Want to print on
HP4100 parallel printer(main system printer hooked to win2000 server). Ran Scoadmin for remote printer and set printer to sharing. Can print to it but cannot change fonts or toggle between portrait and landscape. No matter what default is...
For annihilanic. 103.1 was typo. Should have been 10.1.
Used your clue and used IP of server (not gateway) in resolv.conf. Log in is immediate. Pings work both ways.
Thanks!
Just finished adding our Unix box to a Windows 2000 network for same reason as you. Long hard battle with similiar problem. What worked: /etc/hosts includes only entries 127.0.0.1 and IP of unix box. Added IP of DNS server (NOTE: NOT the gateway hub) to /etc/resolv.conf and everything worked...
Response for annilihannic:
Tried nslookup. After 75 seconds received "can't find 172.16.103.1:No response from server."
More info: unix box and windows 2000 box have same domain name. Windows server box set up as 172.16.10.2. In windows server box (to which hub is connected)...
New installation SCO Unix 5.0.5. Unix machine is one line on hub managed by Windows 2000 box. Want to log in to Unix box from other Windows computers on network (no internet). When telnet invoked from Windows box, cursor blinks for about 75 seconds before login prompt is displayed. /etc/hosts...
