    Solaris 9 certifications

Hi, My employer is pushing me to get a Solaris cert. With no background in Solaris I figured it would be best to go with the latest version - 9 (I can get my hands on some boxes to do labs). What I want to know is - Is there much difference from Sol8 to Sol9? I've read there's about 20%...

    CCNP 640-606 Exam Preparation Material

I would suggest trying anything you can get your hands on. I used the Boson's, but found they were outdated and had A LOT of incorrect questions/answers. But it was fun finding all the wrong ones - one test it was 20%. Hope this helps ajcazz

Aussie Broadband vs Rest of the World

Here is a VERY interesting article on the state of Broadband in Australia compared to what the rest of the world gets. I know we all know that we are getting shafted when it comes to Broadband services, but I didn't realise how much until I read this ...

New CCNP Exams -> New Cisco Press Books??

Check the routing book - it may NOT have the IS-IS chapter in it. If it doesn't you should still be able to get it from the Cisco web site. Also, with the CCNP certifications changing, Cisco have ADDED QoS, VPN and Wireless to the exams. Obviously these are not in the cert books currently - I...

Cisco is it where it's at?

From my experience - Cisco is the way to go. I worked in Hospitality for 10 years working up to Senior management, then got jack of the industry and completed my MCP in 1999 and went into a level 1 job for over 2 years earning the same money as when I was a manager in Hospitality. Then I got my...

    CCNA Sims

The best tool, without using the real thing (router) I used was the CD included with the semster 1 and 2 lab exercise guides from Cisco. They sim's on the CD seem to match best the sim's in the exam. ajcazz

Can I use 2611 router for my lab. Thanks

Of course you can use a 2611 router. In fact getting your hands on ANY equipment will be advantageous. Don't forget the WIC slots are empty. This means if you want to play around with serial interfaces, then you'll need a card. Hope this helps, ajcazz

    Supernetting

You got it!!! Well done. When you do the exam, Cisco will try to trick you into picking the wrong network by giving you a list of ones that look correct but are not - be careful take your time and work it out - these are the easy ones that go well towards a passing score. Any other questions...

    Supernetting

Hi ElijaBailey, No problem - try a few simple ones first. List the subnet, range of usable addresses and the broadcast address for the following subnets only: IP 192.168.71.5, subnet mask 255.255.252.0 No a bit harder : IP 172.116.17.231, Subnet 255.255.240.0 Hint - you will only list one...

    Supernetting

    Hi ElijaBailey, Here is the short answer : Subnet 1 = 192.168.32.0, Range 192.168.32.1 - 192.168.32.254, Broadcast 192.168.32.255 Subnet 2 = 192.168.33.0, Range 192.168.33.1 - 192.168.33.254, Broadcast 192.168.33.255 Subnet 3 = 192.168.34.0, Range 192.168.34.1 - 192.168.34.254, Broadcast...

    ccnp technical school?!?

jdl508, It sounds like your pretty well set up there with equipment. If you can get a switch, that will help HEAPS on the switching exam - make sure you know what type of switches use which type of command set - you will breeze through it if you do. Otherwise, I used the CCNP boxed set (not the...

    ccnp technical school?!?

I did CCNP without going to an academy and got through it OK. However I DID do the first three semsters of CCNA and that was a fantastic help because I got the hands on experience you don't usually get. Do you have your CCNA already? If not it may be a bit tough to go straight into CCNP. ajcazz

Hi, all. I plan to take ccna. I hav

A tip for you guys looking to do CCNA. Try and get some reading materials from different sources within CiscoPress if you can. For example, the CCNA exam has questions on it from the ICND course, CCNA courseware and the CCNA exam guide. If you don't at least read all three sources you will get...
