Is the user that's logged on 5 times the backup user (user you have ARCserve logging on to remote machines as)? If so, that's normal. Why are you trying to back up mapped drives? In my experience ARCserve just shows the local drives and shares. If you want to back up a mapped drive, why not...
I don't think you can mix per server and per seat licenses. I would try increasing the number of licenses on your server (Control Panel > Licensing) and see if this helps. Also check and make sure that when you tried to add the per seat licenses before, you didn't switch the type of licensing...
Have you set auditing so that you can see failed logins to your account? I'm wondering if someone could be doing repeated logins trying to crack your account resulting in it being locked.
Can you log on as Administrator at the server itself? Is it possible that you have the Administrator account configured so that it can only log on locally?
Hmm. 8604 is an error I've gotten backing up Lotus Notes dbs. What kind of an EC are you getting with this error? Are you getting it with all the dbs on the machine or just some? Have you tried stopping and restarting the db agent? I have sometimes had success by doing repeated small test...
8531 is usually related to problems with account name and password that you're using to log onto the remote server. When you give the name to log on as, be sure to use the form domainName\userName (even though it's in the same domain). Also the backup user that you're trying to log onto the...
Yeah, I've found the same thing with SQL 6.5 dbs. I find that if I go into the SQL manager on the server and edit each db so that "truncate log on checkpoint" is not checked, it backs up perfectly. For a while I had a problem with a few of the dbs switching back from time to time...
How about doing a full backup of the old server, doing a bare bones NT install on the new hardware and then doing a restore to the new server? The trouble with this, though is that NT will be looking for the same hardware you had on your old machine. Hmmm.
CA sells a Unix agent for ARCserveIT for NetWare. I don't know whether or not it would work with Linux. You can find a brief description of it at http://www.cai.com/arcserveit/arcserveit_options_nw.htm
Good luck.
I would try doing the install without using old board settings and then selecting the correct board(s) from the list. Also, do you have aspi drivers for your board(s) or are they shared with non-ARCserve devices? If the answer to both these questions is no, I think you should not be choosing...
Au contraire! You can back up a NetWare server but you need to have the correct version of the NetWare agent for ARCserve for NT running on the NetWare server. Do you have this? If not, contact your friendly CAI sales rep--s/he'll be happy to sell it to you for a pile of money.
I think this gets done when you install the tape library option. I would try re-installing that although you might want to ask yourself first how often your tape head actually needs cleaning. I never clean mine and have no problems.
Yeah, I did the same thing with NT. I found that autopilot was unreliable in moving the tapes to the scratch set. I would rather just do it myself each morning
Yes, it does. Go to Manager > Utilities > Copy. You set it up in much the same way you set up a backup job except that you need to provide security information for both the source and the destination. The destination does NOT have to be on the server running ARCserve.
