Log in as a domain admin, then access the portal and instal the plug in when prompted. This should then make it available for any users on that system.

but I think you are asking how to change the document profile ?
If that is the case then you need to navigate to the management area or the portal through network places for example.

then in the management...

Try checking a couple of the white papers, you may sound something worthwhile.
Their are a couple of good books on the market at the moment...
Have you tried downloading an uncorrupted version and then installing that rather than the one you are using.
It could be that you have changed something on the web part that you have in your corporate gallery and if that has been changed then regardless how many times you create a new instance...
