Are you still requiring the 9940 drives?
What are your options?
Can you add additional 9940A? if so how many will you require, or, do you need to change to the 9940B? If so, how many do you require?
I am not aware of too many options that may be available. I tend to like the AMI adapters. This company was recently purchased by LSI Logic. LSI manufactures both the chips that power these types of adapters as well as their own disk array systems used by IBM, NCR and HP.

the key to your success will rest both witht he architecture that you use when implementing your SAN as well as the software that you choose for your backup scenario. Ideally you want to be able to push the data direct from the array to the library without involving a server.
