Thanks both.
I saw it used (seemingly) interchangeably in a poem, and I was confused.
I am the first to admit I know nothing of poetry so it's probably there on purpose for whatever reason!

(Not quite modern grammar, but I have no doubt that someone on MAI will know the answer!)
Does anyone know whether the two are interchangeable in Middle English, or whether there are rules deciding when you'd use one over the other?
I'm struggling to google this, all that comes up is biblical...
Thank you.
I learned English through speaking it and reading books, but never formally learned the grammar (I'm Greek and grew up in Athens, where I went to Greek school). My instincts usually serve me well enough but things like non-restrictive clauses throw me.
Any recommendations on grammar...
Thank you both.
Why is the comma needed between "what I want" and "when I want" though? I mean, you would write:
I will write about football on Sunday
rather than:
I will write about football, on Sunday
...or wouldn't you?

This is what I have
I think the "when I want but feel" is a little confusing with no comma after "when I want". Also I don't think the comma is necessary after "what I want"
The above looks better to me, but then the subject is the same in both parts... Without a comma the sentence might run...

I agree, CC
Also it works better with the rest of the prose in the story, which is a consideration!

Thanks so much for taking the time to read and comment! Glad you enjoyed it.
In the first comment to that blog post I include a link to another story set in that world (a couple of generations later, maybe). The story is work suitable, but there is one word that maybe work filters...
jebenson,
Thanks. Indeed you could - personal taste comes into it here for me though, and I prefer how "He was still sitting..." rolls

I carried on thinking about it earlier and realised that what I used was a colloquialism native to Yorkshire, where I have been living for some years now. It didn't sound wrong because I have been accustomed to hearing it.

Hello folks
I wrote a little story the other day and included the sentence:
One of my readers has very kindly sent me a message saying it sounds wrong to them. Should it be "He was still sitting there..." instead?
I've been rolling both sentences around in my head too much and now...

Ah - unsurprisingly, SqlTransaction works exactly as one would expect, but while I was getting the right id back, I was then doing some other stuff in the business logic that was causing the problem

Thanks Jason (I'm still prototyping, sort of, hence things like throw exp!)
Yes, the right id is being returned.
I am also sure that the foreign key causing the issue is the parentid one (I should have clarified this before)

I have the following (in semi-pseudo code)
using (SqlTransaction transaction = connection.BeginTransaction())
{
try
{
int newid = InsertParent(transaction, ...)...
