I'm looking for a good way to diagnose the standard application crash messages from Windows (i.e. <Application> has encountered a problem and must close or <Application> has stopped working).
In the past, it's always been a guess or wait for an update to whatever software is having the problem...
I'm working on a remoteapp solution with server 2008 and have run into a problem with the password policy. If I set a user account to change password on next login, that user account is unable to access the remoteapp. Since they do not actually receive the traditional login screen to change...
That was what I had figured to be the case considering it's merely a screen paint on the local side. I had considered exploring something in the DVC realm but that would most likely require some sort of modification to the behaviour of the application.
I am working with a 2008 remote application environment. The application I have setup contains calls to various other applications such as Internet Explorer. However, this will cause the IE instance to be launched from the terminal server session. This is fine, but is there a way to have the...
That's good to read. On that same note, when a restore job needs to be run from the old catalog, all I should need to do is inventory the tapes from the previous install or is there something else that needs to be done?
I'm planning to do a clean install of Backup Exec 10. I currently have 8.6 running on a different machine but all I want to retain is the restore catalog. The Veritas knowledge base says this can be done by copying the .u01 files from the catalog directory from the old version to the new...
I'm currently trying to set up a Cisco Aironet 1200 with both guest and internal access. I am looking to isolate guest traffic to internet only. From what I can tell, a VLAN setup is the way to go. I was able to pass VLAN traffic from the Aironet, but it ended up causing quite a bit of packet...
I ran into an interesting dilemma with the Workstation Service. On startup, the service would error out with the Event ID from the subject line. If a manual start was attemted it would error out with Access Denied. The text of the from the Event Viewer also stated "Access is Denied".
There...
Tread lightly here. Forging a DNS entry like that could keep you from getting to other websites that aren't off the same ip as msn.com but share the msn.com domain in some fashion.
I know I'm pointing out the obvious here but I've had some nuisances happen to me in the past doing something...
Since you are only using a small portion of the full /24 subnet you have configured, have you considered setting the hotspots up as bridges where they would DHCP off your main ip pool? Or is that even possible with the type of access point you are using?
Also, you may try assigning a block of...
I was able to sort of get a test solution here. I never got to set it up in practice, but the test environment worked out fairly well. It did involve setting up a DFS setup where the profiles were stored on both LANs. Instead of restricting the profiles to only the employee's native location...
Go to Start-->Control Pane-->Administrative Tools-->Event Viewer.
The error should be located in the Application Log somewhere. That's one of the better places to start.
From my past experience, this isn't the easiest thing to do. In order to change the key, you will have to edit the registry. There are some programs out there that will do this for you. Best of luck with this one.
I am working on a test lab setting up one central domain controller and two additional backup domain controllers on separate LANs and need some help setting up the romaing profiles. For example, one employee works normally at site #1 and we would store his roaming profile at that site's server...
I kind of got side tracked off of this one for awhile, but I did get it fixed. Seems that the person before me didn't install IIS right or had done something odd with it. Once I reinstalled it, works like a champ now. Thanks for your help on that one.
