    You can use Norton Ghost but the new drive has to be identical size and model as the old drive.

    Re-linking kernel caused problems

    Unfortunately it sounds like the OS is crashing. It may be coinincedence that it happened after a kernel rebuild. Probably will take a reload of the OS. Could be a bad hard drive also.
