VPN problems on Windows 2000 / Win2K server

Figured it out. Changed the Router to a new Netgear Prosafe and it worked. I was going to use the netgear client to create a vpn tunnel, but I reconfigured the VPN and RRAS again and it worked. Apparently the old router was not allowing VPN pass-through.

VPN problems on Windows 2000 / Win2K server

I have a Win2K server that is a DC on a small LAN. We recently moved to a new office building which has a T1 Line that distributes Internet access to all the offices. Our previous office had a static IP from a local ISP. They also provided a combination DSL modem/router which was set as the...

Slow speed on vpn (linksys befvp41 v2)

What type of work are you trying to do over the VPN? Opening word/excel doc’s, transfer files, etc. or open Access type databases or run an application? The larger the file the slower the transmission rate. VPN’s are always significantly slower than working locally. For the bandwith #’s you gave...

Symantec Enterprise Edition - processes and services

If you are only using the server to run the management for symantec corp. antivirus then you don't need to have those services running if you don't want them to be. However, if you are using the server for any other functions I would be wary of what services you are stopping.

Using Serial ATA mobile rack as a removable backup device.

I have 5 60GB serial ATA drive that I use in a Kingwin mobile/removable hard drive rack. I want to use them as hot-swapable hard disk's as a backup solution, instead of tapes on a Windows 2003 Server. The problem is the Server doesn't recognize the hard drives as removable so I can't remove them...

Windows NT 4 server VPN connection trouble

I have a server at work that's running Windows NT 4 Server w/ SP6a. I'm trying to connect to it on a Windows XP PC over the internet through a PPTP using RAS on the Server. I can establish a connection with the XP client and I can ping the IP addresses on the office network from a DOS shell. I...

Connect to Network drives asking for password

Are you mapping using network neighborhood or using "net use" commands form a DOS Prompt? Also, does this happen on both remote 98SE and Win2k users or just 1? If it's 98 remote users it may be due to the fact that windows isn't caching the user name and password. Try loging off at...
