Download ProcessExplorer from www.sysinternals.com that software show you all the process, files & handle in use on your systems.     The problem may be your network card setting. Make sure that both network card's set at 100mbbps/Full Duplex. Some Hub only support Half-Duplex. Do some test... To set the speed/duplex in Windows 2000: - Open "Network and Dial-Up Connection" - Open the properties of the network card...
