DO NOT INSTALL SERVICE PACK 3 ;) It has a lot of problems, replication problems to name one of them, read the message boards and stay updated with SP3, they fix and change things in service packs without letting anyone know.
example is when SP 2 first came out it was half the size it is now...
two things:
- AD replication can take up to 48 hours, to be extreme.
- Did you install service pack 3 on the win 2k server? (SP3 has replication problems, among a long list of other ones)
You are probably set up as a mandatory profile. This lets you change your settings but everytime you log off you settings will return to the default if you want to get around this you must talk to your administrator.

Do not get rid of WINS!!!! It is critical. 2k server still depends on NETBIOS names, although Bill will have you think that DNS can do it alone. you must have wins to ping by netbios names or browse by network hood.

you need to go to add/remove programs, uninstall DNS from the networking tab, and then go to \\winnt\system32\dns and delete everything inside besides the samples.
Actually.. the problem is when you NAT a VPN session it changes the packet headers. Any decent company will have a network setup behind a firewall and when that firewall receives theses packets, it checks the headers. When it sees that it does not match what the address should be it considers it...
