W2K FTP Server and XP Explorer client problem

About 6 months ago I setup a W2K Pro system to act as an FTP server to exchange files. For some reason, about 1 month ago, I could not access the FTP server from Internet Explorer on a Windows XP machine. I receive the error "An error occurred opening that folder on the FTP server. Make sure...

Bill, I thought it would come to something extreme, and that is better than reformatting. I will try it sometime this weekend if I find the time. If not, please remember to check this thread on tuesday if I have any more problems. What do you think caused this? Thanks for all your help. Joe

IP address stuck on 0.0.0.0, no internet or network access

I read the Norton link and I don't have that problem in my registry. It looks like that was an older Norton issue when XP just came out. I uninstalled Norton 2004. I guess I am back to square one. Thanks again. Any more suggestions would be appreciated. Joe

OK. When I first encountered the problem I installed a 2nd card and then uninstall it. As per Jim's suggestion I uninstalled the motherboard card and reinstalled it with no success. Now, as per Bill's suggestion, I uninstalled the on board 3com and disabled it in the bios. Then I installed a...

Bill, I have already ran WinSockFix and the problem still exists. I will check the other 2 links, but I feel it is more than a configuration problem. Doesn't the receive traffic point to something using the network card? Joe

IP address stuck on 0.0.0.0, no internet or network access

OK anyone who wants a challenge, here try this one. I have a XP Pro system that yesterday stopped seeing the network. The network card usually gets its IP address from a Linksys router, but it is reading Invalid IP address, 0.0.0.0 in the Support tab under status. I tried to enter a static ip...

W2K Server for VPN, XP client Good, W98 client Bad

This was over a year ago, so I don't remember doing anything else. The only suggestion I can think of is I used the RAS Server to create a workstation setup floppy. The W98 machine was the only machine that I had to use the floppy to get it to work. I can't remember anymore details, but maybe...

    Linksys BEFSR41 VPN Error 678

I found out my problem. I used the external address as my gateway on the VPN NIC. I should have been using the internal address for my router. I hope this helps someone else.

    Linksys BEFSR41 VPN Error 678

No, it is not the new VPN router, but from everything I have read in this site it is capable of supporting a VPN connection. It is the BEFSR41 with the newest firmware installed (version 1.42.7).
