I set up samba to be a wins server but my w2k server keeps tyring to be the wins server. Is there a way to turn off wins on the w2k server or how can I get samba to always win. The OS level is set to 64 in the smb.conf file. Thanks.

i have a scsi tape drive that i am using as /dev/st0 with tar fine, but the hardware compression of the tape drive is not being used. The other device names are st0a,st0l, and st0m. Does anyone know what the a,l, and m mean? I cannot find anything on redhat websire. RH7.3. Thanks
