You may have trouble with the newer kazaa's and the like, most have gone to a random port and a user with minimum intelligence can move the directories and use links. If it is a large organization, you will end up using a packet shaper...but for smaller companies, I go with the guys, find and...
Get a pix with multiple slots, and don't buy the nics from cisco, they are generic intel 10/100's. Turn off, insert cards, power on, configure and away you go.
I'm with annihil on this one, you are more than likely forbidden to access it as root. Telnet in(better yet ssh if you have it installed) as a regular user, and su to root. This will allow you to install. To place the files, it would be easier to put the files to the server, again, you won't...
Got a 604e 166 mhz processor to upgrade the 100mhz built on one that is on my 7248 rs/6000. Unfortunately I cannot find a service manual, so I don't know the procedure other than sticking it in the zif socket and sticking on a heatsink/fan. There are jumpers, but without a guide I don't know...
It would have been smart to run the equivelant of sysprep on the XP boxes. That aside, there is a download out there that some unscrupulous people use to change the license number after they have downloaded a hacked copy to a legit number.
I have recovered everything from little 2.1 scsi drives to 140 gig scsi and large IDE drives using the freezing method. It has worked in at least 10 cases where I had even changed out the circuit board. It does not work every time, and I have had a few instances where it didn't. But IT DOES...
The webmin page has all the instructions you need to install webmin. Following the directions, and downloading a couple of necessary files it took less than 20 minutes to get it going and connect remotely. I did this after someone suggested webmin as a possiblity for remote command. I know...
How do you go about doing that? I know that once upon a time it was a one week course in texas at an HP seminar. I want an in-house technician to be able to service the 100 odd printers that we have. I know I can't be a var and get the parts at a reduced price, but I'm sure it would cut back on...
No D-link also has a dmz zone. The virtual server is set up so that you can select various ports to go to specific ip's on your internal network. For instance, I have ftp going specifically to address 140 on my internal net. I have ssh going to 100, etc....
You don't. You select to burn cd from cd image, use the drop down box to select .iso extensions and click okay. That is for cd destroyer(creator) of course, and your mileage may vary.
It works beautifully, kind of a lag(even on fast connection) for the command window, but it doesn't need another port. Just 10000. Most excellent. Thanks for the assist!
I had originally thought of using vnc, since I have used it in the past to hook up to linux servers by pushing it out with the vnc java server client. The problem with that one is you need X, and I chose not to install it on the server I'm connecting too for the cpu's sake. I have downloaded the...
