Its not clear exactly what you are trying to do... can you be more specific?
One thing I noticed with Windows 2008 is that remotely you need to specify the domain name or machine with the username
i.e.
username = domain1\bobsmith
username = machinename\bobsmith
instead of just typing...
you would have to configure your monitoring device/server with two NICs... one for each network so that you can see the traffic. This may require that you add a nic to your current monitoring device.

We use the concept of backup LANs... a LAN dedicated for server backup traffic.
