I checked services in msconfig and turned off 3 Soluto services. The issue seems to be resolved. I am no longer seeing the "pop up" flash since I turned these off:
Soluto PCGnome service
Soluto Launcher service
Soluto Remote service
Thanks @chris and @guitarzan
Phil
@chris I will check that when I go home tonight.
@guitarzan Windows 7 64 bit, IE 11, Chrome Version 36.0.1985.125 m, McAfee antivirus w/ auto update, all scans clean. I'll try your suggestions when I get home tonight.
Thanks for the help. I'll let you know what I learn.
Phil
When I use my home pc,surfing the web, I see a quick flash of what appears to be a pop-up. It comes and goes so fast that I don't know what it is. I see it whether using IE or Chrome. It is always the same size and location. How do I determine exactly what it is? BTW MalwareBytes and Spybot...
Don't know why I bothered to ask the Microsoft Community folks - they never really help. I should have come here first and saved myself a few days of agony. Thanks again!
Tried downloading VLC - no fix.
No obvious problems in device manager, so I downloaded the latest drivers for the SSD, motherboard chipset and network controller - one at a time, checking for the problem after each one. It turned out to be the network controller driver! It doesn't make sense...
Hello,
I re-installed Windows 7 a couple of weeks ago, but just noticed this problem: Video stops then starts, then stops (stutters), but the Audio keeps playing. This is true for local video (hard drive) and streaming video (YouTube) no matter what file format. I notice that different...
I used the built in Win 7 Create System Image app. When the image was created the disk had 2 partitions (C: OS and D: Data), but I only imaged the C: part. Now it has 3 (C: OS, D: Data and J: Vista each with 300GB). When I try to restore the image that was created from the C: partition which...
I have WIn7 Home Premium and Vista dual boot on different partitions of the same physical hard drive. I want to restore an image of Win 7 to overwite a partition, but it appears to be telling me that it will Format and overwrite ALL partitions including the Vista partition. Is there any way to...
@vacunita "Have you tried the Power Options: Require Password when Waking from Sleep? It may be requiring it on top of the usual log in. Uncheck that option. "
That was the problem! Many Thanks for helping me fix it. It's a good thing I thought to come to Tek-Tips after no one in the...
@GrimR "Why does it wake up in a bad mood if you wake it too early?"
No, just the opposite: "2. ...As long as the PC has not been asleep for four hours prior to login, I only have to enter the password once." (I guess a more accurate statement would be, "If awakened after less than 4 hours of...
vacunita and linney,
Thank you both for the suggestions. I will try them out one by one.
It will take some time to check these out, because I need the pc to sleep for at least 4 hours each time I change something. Then, if soething appears to have worked, I'll need to repeat it to verify...
I have Widows 7 Home Premium - upgraded from Vista Home Premium. I have three user accounts set up. When I try to log into my account after waking up the pc by touching the keyboard, I have to enter my password twice: The first time, it shows the spinning dial and then screen ges black, as if...
Well I got an answer over at the Microsoft Phone Forum. Thought I'd post here in case someone else was looking for the same answer:
Try this path: Settings -> Advanced Settings (Top-right big tab in settings menu) -> System -> Version -> Device -> Scroll down to "Wi-Fi (IEEE 202.11 b/g) under...
I'm trying to set up my new Samsung Omnia II cell phone on my home network. My router is filtering MAC addresses, so I need to enter my phone's MAC address. The phone is running Win Mobile 6.5. Can anyone tell me how to find the MAC address in Win Mobile 6.5?
Thanks in advance,
mrpb
linney,
I guess Microsoft changed Vista since computerkid wrote this in his blog in 2007, because it is the same method already listed. He said it allowed you to still use the hidden drive, but In my experience that is not (or no longer) true. When you try to access the hidden drive, you get a...
Yup, those are the same ones I found with Google. They don't allow you to use the drive while it is hidden. I'm hoping there is a way, but I haven't found it yet.
In XP I could use TweakUI to hide disk drives from the kids and was still able to use them. There is no TweakUI for Vista and I've tried to hide a drive with registry tweaks(HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer) and via command prompt (using diskpart)...
