Hello all,
About 30 days ago I migrated users in a remote office from their existing domain to use the same domain as our office. Everything works great with the merge. The problem is that when people browse to 'My Network Places' the old domain still shows up. There are no workstations or...
I have SP3 running on 10 servers & ~50 clients. Indeed, as others seem to have noticed, performance overall seems a bit better. All servers were previously SP2 with several hotfixes/security patches. Everything seems to be running fine, if not better.
ok, just a few things:
Change the IP on your Server to be static: 192.168.10.200
Change the DHCP scope to (192.168.10.2 to 150) The subnet mask you're using internally is correct.
Staticly assign the router's internal IP to be 192.168.10.1
If you have a win2k domain controller, then you also...
Putting the public server on your local domain will put the network at risk. You're better off using a different subnet and domain than what the users on the network are using. I can help you out with this if you like, just let me know.
We run Apache Tomcat also and it works great. We have shortcuts on user machines to remotely restart the tomcat services. They use a command/tool found on the resource kit called sc.exe
Do some reading on that and see what you come up with. Hope this helps
I dont think so since they are using different subnet masks.
It seems to me that you really don't have to go through all this trouble just for wireless security though. Why not use 128-bit encryption and allow only the users' MAC addresses in the wireless LAN?

From his description in the 1st post it seems to me that he dcpromo'd his DC. That's why I suggested to make a new domain.
Quote from cptkirkh's 1st post:
"...it also asks for the domain name. it has listed what i feel is the win2k domain name xxx.com. When i try this domain...

to make it easy on yourself:
1st get a clean install of win2k server (NOT UPGRADED FROM NT4) and promote it to master dc & make a new domain name
2nd demote your current dc's
3rd add all 2ndary and member servers to new domain
4th set up primary & 2ndary DNS servers (maybe WINS and DHCP if u...
sonun,
I'm trying to understand your problem. You have users on your network that are not able to browse to an external webpage that IS NOT hosted on your network, nor on a DMZ port from your firewall. Is this correct?
If so, have you checked your hosts file and/or blocked sites/IP's on...
Glen-
I checked with the firewall manufacturer's tech. support people, they said that the DMZ port has to be on a different subnet for security reasons. Since the webserver HAS to be on the DMZ port, I'm not sure that I'll be able to just switch it back to the old subnet just to get things...

This is a problem that just started.

Hello,
It's been a long time since I learned Win2k Server & have a quick question. Can someone please WALK ME THROUGH what I need to do so that the local internal IP of 192.168.2.3 is resolvable by name instead of just IP address. I try to ping the machine by name and it doesn't come up...
