You will need to use third party apps to be able to tell the IP any host. W2K doesn't have any way ( I know ) to do that.
What you can do is to enable auditing for logon events, so you will be abe to tell the (logon user, workstation's NetBIOS name, logon time,.. etc.)
Actually I am not an...
Here is what I think you should do
1- in the W2K server, network identificatin tab , make the MIS server member of a workgroup (any workgroup) not a domain (actually this step is only to dis-join the domain)
2- you will need to reboot after these changes.
3- in the server manager in win NT4.0...
Try to check the eventlog in the server for any problem. Look for the date problems startd to appear and you might find the solution.
Make sure the RPC services (through the services applet) are started.
I am sorry, I really don't understand
What is the name of your domain?
What is the name of the workgroup
please try to explain "my workgroup is domain" !!!
is the W2k Server member of a domain, what its name, is it your NT40 domain?
Why don't you try to put the folder <i386> from the CD to the HD of the server and start setup from there.
All you need is a startup disk with cd driver (that if you don't already have any os on the computer).
Was the active directory installtion "dcpromo" successful?
Do you already have active dirctory data (users, groups,...etc.), or is it a fresh installation ?
In W2K there is nothing (really) called BDC, all Domain controllers do (almost) the same rule.
If the active dirctory...
I really didn't understand what you mean by
"The mis workgroup is domain"
You will not find the network identification tab on the NT4.0 server.
Only W2K can change network id, without having to re-install.
* Did you make the mis server a domain controller?
* In the network...
As NickFerrar said, if the router is configured (which I expect to be the default) to route between the two interfaces that are connected to both networks, then all you need to do is configur the 10 subnet clients to use the router's interface which must be 192.168.10.x
Why don't you try to remove it from the domain and then re-join the domain again?
- form the 2k server, network identification > configure it as a member of a workgroup (any)
- from the PDC > Server manager > remove the account of the computer
- from the 2k server again configure it as a member...
Volume must be NTFS in order to get the security tap.
you must convert the volume to NTFS
Convert D: /fs:ntfs
where d: is the drive letter of the affected volume.
So what kind of error message you get when trying to logon
something like :
* Domain not reachble
* User account doesn't exist
* wrong pass
* you don't have the right to logon from this workstation

Windows XP pro is almost like W2K pro, except for interface enhancements. I changed from Windows 2K pro to Windows XP pro, and I didn't see any problem.
