Thanks for the help, all sorted now.
File share resource at top level of data drive, all subfolders automatically shared for home drives, just update security ntfs permissions.
Yes i was using file system shares.
Yeah we use cacls for our shares, permissions.
So is there any way to automate the cluster share creation, as i was intending to have home directories shared on a cluster drive. We have about 450, so a long job to set up.
Would it be unusual to have so many...
Hi, thanks for the help, only thing is that hasnt done the trick for my shares unfortunately.
Added the local admin group, and it doesn indeed change from node1 admin to node2, but we still seem to loose the actual share.
Its only after the reboot. Did you have to share on each node in the first...
Hi, sorry if this has been covered before but ive searched and found nothing in this forum.
We have this problem, just built a 2 node cluster 2003, and when we set up our shares on the data drive, when this drive fails over the shares do not follow. Permissions do but not the shares.
If we then...
Hope someone can help me please.
We are currently testing the process of upgrading our site to exchange 2003, running on 2 clustered servers.
I have sorted the clustering out, with the original exchange 2000 server, a new tempory swing server to move the mailboxes to, (although they could just...

I have built a domain, with one ad server, one exchange2000 server going through an ISA server. Mail worked fine in and out.

Thanks for you help Jbud, having read some of the info from your links, it seems that it wont work the way im trying to make it.
Looks like ill have to give the users the email of user@xyz.ac.uk.
Thanks again
Yeah, we have a child domain entry in our dns, with a mx record for and a host for thew mail server
We get a NDR from our mail server saying unable to relay, with a 5.7.1 error.
I can telnet to mailserver.abc.xyz.ac.uk and get a response
Any ideas?
Hi
We have a domain of xyz.ac.uk. All our users have a mailbox on the one exchange 2000 server.
The users are basically split into two groups.
If any user has an email of username@xyz.ac.uk mail works fine in and out.
What i am wanting to do it to set the other half of the users to have an email...
The above sounds like the way to go if your have time to get into it, but i found that if all you want is a basic user, with a profile path, home directory and mailbox, then Addusers.exe does the job well.
We create 10000 users using it, it can import from a basic csv file
Thanks for the response.
Dont think that is our problem though.
We have to put domain\username accessing owa from the outside world,(on XP) but internally it just authenticate automatically.
Also i just tried a user with an email of user@subdomain.domain and even internally the authentication...
We have our exchange server published, and external Outlook web Access works fine.
What we have now is some users who have been set up with a sub domain email address. This works ok for normal mail, internal and external, but when we come to log into OWA, a connection cannot be made. If we...
Something also i find usefull is to use the NT4 user manager to access AD users.
It will let you multiple select users, or by groups, and change details like login script, profile paths..if they all need the same details.
also to reset a group of users passwords to a default.
Dont think that can...
Have you tried selecting multiple users lander?
Thats how we dour ours..
Thats the easy part, i havent found a way round either for manually setting up outlook for each user.
