XP Pro Home Networking Connectivity Problem

Another thing you can do is go to the tools on the XP install disk and install the NetBEUI protocol on the machines in your little network. It can really help XP machines "talk" with older 95/98 machines without having to mess around with the "wizard". Just install on the machines involved and...

I have a series of worksheets in a workbook. Each sheet contains the hours worked and amount earned by each employee per paycode, per payroll. While the columns all remain the same and the sort is the same (last name, employee number), but the cell references do not remain the same. I would...

translating old values to new values

Thank you Geoff. When I move it onto the same worksheet, it will work fine, so you've got me on the right track. Later this week, when I get some time, I'll move the lookup table to another sheet and try to reference it from there, so it does not confuse the user who filling out the input sheet.

translating old values to new values

I saw that function, but do not see how to make it work in this case. How do I make G2 = value(F2) looked up in a table external to the spreadsheet. The example in help shows =VLOOKUP(1,A2:C10,2) Looks up 1 in column A, and returns the value from column B in the same row (2.17) How do I...

translating old values to new values

I have a table with old id numbers that I would like translated into new id numbers when input. For example old id number 1 is now 80550104. I would like for the user to be able to input the old id into a cell (in column old id) and have it check the table and fill the cell in column new id. So...

    CHKDSK

You might want to run chkntfs (drive): at the command prompt to see if a "dirty bit" has been set that is triggering the autochk function. If this bit has been set by some other problem (like a recent installation) it will continue to trigger a check. You might want to run a full scan...

There are several Novell TIDs on this 1005533, 10017333, 2917432 all relating to how Excel (and Word) save files on a drive. I am working at a place which has had a similar problem. One of the fixes is to open Excel go to Tools>Options>General and uncheck the "ignore other...

    Windows 2000 Permissions Help

You need to really identify your problem here. If it is hackers, the best way to deal with them is to keep them out of your system. Once in, a hacker can hijack your administrative account and do what they want using the admin permissions, no matter how you have locked down the other users. You...

What is corrupting the WT61xx.UWL file?

We are using GroupWise 5.5 and have recently upgraded to Windows 2000 from Windows 95. Since then several users have experienced the random word replacement described in Novell TID 10052519. Replacing the WT61US.UWL file with one from a machine with a good copy fixes the problem, but does anyone...
