    Changing 3640 NAS setup...

Hi. I have a 3640 with a bank of MICA digital modems in it for remote users to call into. I don't know much about the config, I had just copied the config from a router at a prior job and modified it until it worked :) So things worked great for years but now I need to handle one specific...

    Postfix as a spamblocking forwarder

Hi, First off I'm Unix-mail ignorant, I want to learn but haven't had time lately. So this question is probably pretty basic I want to put a Linux SMTP forwader/proxy in front of our MS Exchange server. We have something doing that now but want to replace it. Is Postfix (with smtp) able to do...

    dnsd won't generate ptr entries

called support on this, apparently reverse lookups are added as part of the host record in a rinky-dink sort of addition to domain resolved area. dnswalk says we still have a problem. Support says I should wait another two days for replication (don't know what good that's supposed to prove when...

    dnsd won't generate ptr entries

People can't get mail from us because they're spam filters do reverse lookups on our mail servers, which fail. I ran dnswalk against us and got a lot of PTR warnings. Back in my BIND days I added PTR lines by hand, the book says the clicky-click Raptor is supposed to add them automatically for...

    delete and make forms

How do I delete forms I've made? From personal forms library, and/or organizational forms library? In EFD, how do I get it to submit the form to organization forms library? I can get it to go to public folders and such, but nothing people can use. Also I'm going to try this in O2K and see if it...

    Linux Vs. PIX

Of course, the same question in the Cisco forum might warrant an oppositly-aimed barrage of replies. Your decision might be right, but to keep things interesting you might try posting there. Good luck with it all...

    Linux Vs. PIX

Netfilter is a lot more customizable then a Pix. Yet it does have a learning curve (read: it's quicker to get a pix going then to learn netfilter). However if you stick it out and become a Netfilter Ninja I think you could firewall circles around a Pix. Not to dis Cisco or the Pix of course...

    kernel compile odometer didn't click

Wow that's cool. I don't have anything in usr/src/linux as I build kernels in my home dir, maybe that's why it's always 1. And before someone says 'you do it wrong, dummy' note that some FAQ's say build in usr/src, some say build in ~/. I picked home Thanks for the info Morsing!

    kernel compile odometer didn't click

According to "Running Linux" the number is how many times the kernel has been compiled. What incremements it I have no idea, but have seen it click up on other boxen except this one.

    kernel compile odometer didn't click

I just recompiled a kernel and everything seems great, but for some reason the build number (what's the real term?) didn't kick over. See below - Linux evil-tim 2.4.19 #1 Tue Nov 19 09:23:55 CST 2002 i586 unknown Isn't the #1 after the version the number of times you've compiled the kernel...

    Hard power cycle firewall

after being on hold for a while (I love waiting for something after paying $k's) I found out it can be done but takes longer due to the filesystem check and isn't entirely reccomended (like I thought)

    Policy Banner in Outlook

What platform are the users running? You can make win3.1/95/98/me show a message on boot with a login script. You can make NT show a message on boot with a policy. Don't know how to make lookOut do what your asking, unless you getting into scripting or something funny.

    Hard power cycle firewall

We have one of the Axent Raptor Linux-based rackmount firewall. It likes to quit working almost once a week and requires a restart through the MMC. Someone asked if we could just flip the switch off then on. I think this is a no-no, but need to hear someone else say it. Could someone let me...

    What is winrpc32.dll??

Hi I'm installing some app that bombs when you try to run it. Installed as user and admin, ran as user and admin, nothing works. The error I get is: someprogram.exe- Can't find winrpc32.dll I searched the machine (a W2k Pro RIS load) and could not find that file. Searched a W2K Pro non-ris and...

Exchanger Server disk space running low.

It really depends on how much stuff your moving. It is an offline thing, so it's not like backing up individual mailboxes or other slow activities. I don't think it takes much longer then copying a comparably sized file from disk to disk. I'd tell everyone a few hours to be safe, but if your...
