OK so IBM sent me a new hard drive.. expept now i get a "missing operating system".. I trie booting the machine with a boot disk (WIN98), and I get a NTLDR missing.. can I throw this machine out the window now?
Smar969905,
Thanks for replying.. it actually is an IBM machine.. NetVista to be exact... and i do believe it is a Hitachi hard disk.. how do I go about getting it fixed?
I used the diagnostics disk and it shows no hard drive installed, so I assume it's the hard drive.
It was originally a Windows 98 and was recently upgraded to XP. It just happened out the blue. The computer makes a continuous noise when it's on... kind of like a chirping noise.
I have a desktop that can’t find the operating system, and it's hard rive makes a continuous chirping sound. Does anyone know what it could be? I hard the recovery discs for the machine and I can reformat the hard drive and reload all applications needed, but I will be losing all of my data...
The box you mentioned was unchecked to begin with. I tried checking it and unchecking it once more and nothing.
The messenger service pops with any network printer. Havent tried it with local printers. If there is any other information you need from me to get a better picture let me know...

I dont know why, but when sending an email with an attachment to multiple email addresses, some of the receipients do not get attachement. We have an exchange server, if that make a difference.
Thanks in advance for your help.
