If you look in the ink loader, there are these plastic T shaped peices that push against the ink. These have gray pads on them. The pads can easily come off and make their way to the front. Once they reach the heater, they tend to melt and stick to the heater plate. Just scrap it off.
If there...
A bent blade may have also damaged the printhead. Which would be a total loss. Seeing as how the printhead cost about 5x what the printer is worth.
YOu may want to check and make sure that the gasket around the C/W/P is still there. It is possiable for part of it come off and get stuck somehere.
Marty is dead on with this one. The aftermarket stix destroy print heads and can't match the OEMs color.
I have seen heads go from missing about 5-8 bars, then do a print head cleaning, and BAM, no more magenta.
I have spoken with a few higher ups at Xerox, in fact they where actual Tektronix...
You can not use an 850 print head in an 860. Also, it is not reccommended to try and adjust the head. It is pre adjusted from the factory and Xerox doesn't have any gap adjustment tools available.
If the jetstacks are not heating, there is only one easy solution. Time for one of those...
I am trying to find a manual or maybe some one here knows what the problem is. When the unit is printing, it will occasionally make a clicking sound. This seems to be only whne the paper is moved during the actual printing. Any ideas?
Hey Rhooker, you sound like someone who sells that crappy ink. You made the mistake of saying that 3rd party ink melts at or BELOW Tek ink. AH HA, there is the problem. Melting below the correct temp. can cause the ink to cook. Have you ever tried melting choclate? Once it melts try raising the...
If the paper is sticking, you need to replace the maitence kit. The black roller applies an oily layer on the drum acting like PAM for cooking.
If the pins where the issue, the printer would give a fault code 07.xxx.xx. Basically stating that the blade didn't rise to position.
No matter what it looks like on the outside, the inside tells the story. There are a few things that do fail on an 840. The DMC, Y-Axis pulley assembly and the print head. The print head is what gets ya. The list price for the head is over $1500. You would be taking a gamble. I wouldn't give but...
Using Non Tektronix Ink will destroy a printhead. The only cure is to chunk the crappy ink and replace the printhead. You can contact the manufacture of the ink, Media Sciences. They should cover the cost of a new printhead.
That error indicates a blocked sensor. The best way to clear it, would be to use a thick stock or transperancy. Manually feed it through the paper pre-heater and out the top.
Or it could be a bad sensor.
