Some ABIT motherboards have their bios default RAM voltage too high so check you have the proper voltage setting for your ram. Off the top of my head I think the bois reads 2.65 when it should be 2.5 though this is is related to your type of ram. This can cause intermittent crashes.
Looks like you have not installed either the video drivers or the sound drivers after a fresh install, Windows is using its defaults. Find the drivers tha came with you're system.
Try these driver http://www.voodoofiles.com/5908 they will give you full opengl and 3dfx tools which you can use to adjust your brightness anytime. ps. they will also resolve Windows xp only showing 32 meg of your 64 meg card.
