I have just recently upgraded (some might say) to Windows XP

I have a Voodoo 5500 and it WAS working fine.

The Voodoo drivers supplied in XP do not support the OpenGL system the Voodoo uses to run games like Quake etc.

I had tried 3rd party drivers and they seemed to work on some games but not on others.

Now the brightness on the login screen and desktop is far too high, without anyone changing anything.

But here is the funny thing, from the desktop, if i run Wolfenstien, and then quit the game, the brightness on the desktop has returned to normal.

Am I looking at some file from XP here or drivers, as I have tried just about every driver under the sun for it ??

Help if you can please

Martin

I to have a VooDoo 5 5500 on XP, and what I've notice is when I go into my games, MOHAA, RTCW,etc..,If you make any adjustments in to your brightness under the games video setup it tends to stay that way when you exit the game..
Have not been able to resolve, probably due to the fact that the card is no longer supported with updated drivers.
I've tried a few of the homemade beta types but that just makes it worse. So I just live with it until I can get New card..I know this was'nt any help but it looks like we're in the same boat..

Try these driver they will give you full opengl and 3dfx tools which you can use to adjust your brightness anytime. ps. they will also resolve Windows xp only showing 32 meg of your 64 meg card.
