why not just save the document with the read-only protection on it? When you go to file/save as, select the options button and turn on Read-Only Recommended under the File Sharing options.
When you get that popup message to choose profile, there is an OPTION button. In there you can turn on the Set as Default option and turn off the Show Logon Screens for all information services. That worked for me.
I think what you need to do is assign the administrators profile to that users profile. Look at this tid from Microsoft: Q156568. That should give that users profiles all of the settings from the administrators profile.
