    hard drive surgery

I had a case of a loud knocking 20 gig Maxtor out of an HP computer. I had over 3000 carefully indexed MP3's on it (over 8 gigs). I didn't recognize the noise at first and 20 minutes after boot the system would crash. I rebooted 4 or 5 times after that. What an idiot! I then put a new drive on...

XP 2600+ Power Supply Info Needed

It looks good. Usually P4 compatibility is concentric with Athlon XP. My only advice is to consider using a CONTINUOUS power power supply and the Thermaltake doesn't say. Dual fans are a good sign though. I had a hard drive fail in the summer and and wierd things happen with a good 300 watter...

    Athlon 2400+ on MSI K7T266 Pro 2 2.0 (6380)

cannot copy file: data error (cyclic redundancy check)

Thank you all for your interest. I should have clarified. H is another fixed hard drive on a Promise TX 100 card (raid). However, the same exact result occurs when trying to copy to another drive on the LAN. It only occurs on files over 50mb. Small files copy fine. This problem only began...

cannot copy file: data error (cyclic redundancy check)

When trying to copy large files from C to H, I get this error message and then Win Explorer freezes. I am using Win XP, have no other problems and the files (videos) play perfectly from C. They just can't be moved! Any insights would be greatly appreciated. p.s. CHKDSK says all is well.
